Overview

Compared with excavation method, the method of repairing fractured pipes has advantages such as faster construction speed, higher efficiency, price advantage, more favorable to the environment, and less interference to the ground.

Product Details

Pipeline fracture repair methodIt is a pipeline renewal method that uses pipe breaking (splitting) equipment to break or cut old pipes from the inside, squeeze the old pipe fragments into the surrounding soil to form pipe holes, and synchronously pull in new pipes (of the same diameter or larger diameter). This type of repair technology can be applied to the replacement of old pipes made of ceramics, unreinforced concrete, asbestos cement, plastic or cast iron pipes, with a diameter range of 75-2000mm.

According to the power source, it can be divided into two processes: static pipe crushing (cracking) method and pneumatic pipe crushing method. Static pipe crushing (cracking) method breaks the original pipeline under static force or cuts the original pipeline, and then expands it with an expansion head; The pneumatic pipe breaking method relies on the impact force generated by pneumatic force to break the original pipeline.

Pipeline fracture repair methodScope of Application

According to the Technical Guidelines for Broken (Cracked) Pipe Method, the typical pipe diameter range is 50~1000mm, and theoretically the larger diameter of the broken (Cracked) pipe method is 1200mm. The broken (Cracked) pipe method is generally used for replacing pipes of equal diameter or larger diameter. It is common during construction that the diameter of the replaced pipeline is 30% larger than the original pipeline diameter. The replacement of the pipeline with a diameter three times larger than the original one has been successfully carried out, but it requires greater pullback force and may result in significant surface uplift.

When the burial depth is less than 0.8m or 0.8cm, it is recommended not to use this method. If this method is to be used, corresponding protective measures should be taken.

pros and cons

The fragmented pipe method pipeline repair technology has advantages over excavation method, such as faster construction speed, higher efficiency, price advantage, more favorable to the environment, and less ground interference.

Compared with other pipeline repair methods, the advantage of the broken (cracked) pipe method is that it is a construction method that can replace the original pipeline with a pipeline larger than its diameter, thereby increasing the flow capacity of the pipeline. Research has shown that the pipe cracking method is very suitable for replacing pipes with wall corrosion exceeding 80% (external) and 60% (internal) of the wall thickness.

The limitations of the broken (cracked) pipe method include the following aspects:

① Need to excavate the ground for branch pipe connection;

② Excavation construction is required for local collapse to insert tension ropes or rods;

③ Processing is required for the locations that have undergone point repairs;

④ For existing pipelines that are severely misaligned, new pipelines will also experience severe misalignment;

⑤ It is necessary to excavate the starting work pit and the receiving work pit.
