Installation of door tension gauge:
The door closing speed measuring instrument (TGM5) includes a control unit and a measuring sensor, which are connected by a single wire.
On the front of the measuring sensor, there is a red arrow indicating the measurement direction. In this direction, the device can measure any magnetic object with a distance less than 5mm, and larger distances should be avoided as much as possible. As long as the distance is controlled within the range of 0-5mm, the distance between the measuring sensor and the car door will not affect the measurement results. The distance between the two outer edges of the measuring sensor and the car door should be maintained at *. However, even if the measurement sensor is installed incorrectly, such as a distance of 0mm from one side edge to the car door and 5mm from the other side, the measurement error can still be maintained at+0.05m/s. The speed of the car door must be measured outside the range where the door can be freely opened and closed.
Installation of measurement sensor: The kit includes a temporary vacuum bracket, through which the measurement sensor can be installed on a plane or surface for measurement and testing. The car specific magnetic foot (or suction cup) must be accurately installed on the measuring sensor, so that the measuring sensor can be quickly installed on the vehicle body and maintain a precise distance from the edge of the door, which is very important for obtaining a series of accurate measurement results.
Due to the electronic design of the TGM door closing speed measuring instrument, the sensor can only measure magnetic objects. We can provide a 'TGM measure edge' with suction cups (see photo). Attention! The bottom of the bracket must be kept clean, otherwise residual dirt or metal particles may damage the car's paint. There are specially designed labels with weak adhesion, which are easy to tear and can effectively protect the spray paint.
The control unit includes a main switch, an LCD display, three buttons, and two connection sockets.
The device can be turned on and off through a switch. The LCD display shows the measured door speed and some prompts. There is a green button on the right side of the box. Press this button after the car door is tightly closed. Press the red button on the left to indicate that the car door is not closed properly.
Press the white button in front of the box to complete a series of measurement tasks. After pressing the white button, the LCD display shows the speed of the car door. After releasing the button, all records on the monitor and device are reset to zero. At the bottom right of the control unit is the plug for connecting to the power supply. The power supply completes the charging of the NiMH battery within 15 hours (with the device turned off). After the battery is fully charged, it can be used for about 7 hours. The battery symbol on the LCD display shows that the voltage is below 7.5V. If it exceeds 7V, the equipment can operate normally.
After the (adjustable) standby time (see 'Debugging Backup Time'), the device automatically adjusts to energy-saving mode after 5 minutes. At this time, the LCD display shows' OFF '. After pressing any button, the device returns to measurement mode again.
The battery is installed on the back of the device. Please ensure that the device is turned off while charging. Pay attention to the positive and negative directions of the battery poles when charging.
Measurement of door speed using a door tension meter
The speed of the car door is a small speed at which it can be tightly closed. The measuring sensor is installed at a specific position on the vehicle body, 5mm away from its edge when the door is closed. The red arrow points to the vehicle body, which is the direction of measurement.
After completing the installation of the measurement sensor, turn on the control unit and the LCD display shows "0.00". The car door can now be closed with different forces. When the edge of the car door passes by the measurement sensor, the LCD display will show the speed per second (m/s) when the car door is closed. After two arrows flash in front of the device, the red or green button must be pressed. The force of closing the car door determines its closing speed, and the tester checks whether the car door is tightly closed. If the car door is tightly closed, press the green button; otherwise, press the red button.
If the green button is pressed, the effective value of the door closing will be automatically compared with the existing door speed (a small speed value obtained in a series of measurements when the door is tightly closed), and the smaller value will be retained and displayed on the LCD display (when the green button is pressed). The speed of the car door is confirmed by the two arrows indicating up and down.
If the red button is pressed, the value will be compared with the existing invalid value (high speed when the car door is not tightly closed). The higher value becomes the new invalid speed and is displayed on the LCD monitor (when the red key is pressed). The speed at which the car door could not be closed is confirmed by the downward arrow.
Next, the device will compare the effective and ineffective speeds of the car door. If the two values are very close, there is no need for further testing. The existing door speed is displayed on the LCD monitor and confirmed by two arrows (not flashing). At this point, the tester can end the test and press the white button. After the white button is pressed, the LCD display will show the door speed obtained during this measurement. When the device is connected to the computer, the speed of the car door can be transmitted to the computer. After releasing the white button, the data of the car door speed will be deleted. The monitor displays the value '0.00'.
