The principle of liposome extrusion is to use a certain extrusion power source to squeeze the liposome sample particles, allowing them to pass through a PC filter membrane under certain pressure conditions. This pressure serves as the shear force during the particle filtration process, achieving the effect of particle size control. Regardless of shape, size, and distribution, significant improvements can be achieved.

The support plate and filter plate mainly serve to support the filter membrane. Due to the phase transition temperature of phospholipids, it is necessary to preheat the extruder jacket with constant temperature water (50-60 ℃) before extrusion, and maintain this temperature during use. After extrusion, the particle size of typical liposome varieties can reach below 100nm, and PDI can be controlled below 0.1.
