Peelable radioactive decontamination film
Decontamination is the process of removing or reducing radioactive contamination using physical, chemical, or biological methods. In a broad sense, decontamination refers to the removal or complete removal of radioactive materials from unwanted areas.
Radioactive pollutants may be ions, molecular states, particulate matter, or colloids. The carrier of contaminated nuclides may be scale, oxide film layer, paint or coating. The formation mechanism of radioactive pollution can be divided into:
1. Sedimentation and attachment processes;
2. Adsorption and ion exchange;
3. Surface electrostatic effects;
4. Diffusion infiltration effect.
The role and significance of decontamination
(1) Reduce radioactive levels, minimize staff exposure, and protect the public and environment;
(2) Facilitating maintenance and disassembly activities, reducing the requirements for shielding and remote operation;
(3) Reduce or eliminate the interference impact on detection;
(4) Make it possible to reuse equipment, tools, materials, buildings, and sites;
(5) Reduce the cost of waste storage, transportation, and disposal;
(6) Reduce the volume of waste that needs to be disposed of or enable waste to be downgraded for disposal;
(7) It is possible to recover fissile materials such as 235U and 239Pu;
(8) Facilitating accident handling and retirement activities.
Detachable film decontamination method
Use a polymer film with multiple functional groups made of chemical cleaning agents and film-forming agents for cleaning. Because various complexing agents, emulsifiers, and sizing agents are added, the strippable film has strong decontamination ability and film forming performance. Before film forming, it is a polymer solution or water-based dispersed lotion, which is applied to the surface of the body to be decontaminated by spray method or brushing method, and forms a film after drying. During the film formation process, the functional groups on the polymer chains and the chelating agents in them interact with the contaminating nuclides. The contaminating nuclides are extracted into the film, and the coating is peeled off to achieve the purpose of decontamination.Peelable radioactive decontamination film
