The sensor directly emits ultrasonic pulse signals to the surface of the medium.

The pulse signal is reflected on the surface of the medium, and the reflected signal is received by the sensor.

The instrument measures the time difference between transmitting and receiving pulse signals.

Calculate the distance between the sensor diaphragm and the surface of the medium based on time difference and sound velocity.
