The drum contains 8 or 10 (depending on the model size) small extruder barrels, parallel to the main screw shaft. In the small barrel is the "satellite" screw, which is driven by the ring gear in the main barrel. When the "satellite" screw rotates around the screw axis, it is in the opposite direction to the main screw. This asymmetric operation design can increase the surface exchange of polymer melt.

The extruder barrel is divided into multiple rotating system drums, with about 30% of the barrel open to ensure that the polymer is in a good molten state when entering the barrel, achieving unrestricted drying. This vacuum technology is based on the concept of a reliable single screw extruder. Based on this concept, MRS avoids the problem of multi axis or screw design (meshing), which makes the machinery highly sensitive to pollutants due to the tight gap design. This is of decisive significance for the reprocessing of PET bottle flakes, as PET bottle flakes often contain coarse particle contamination.

The advantages of MRS technology also include 100% polyester dehumidification, which increases the inherent viscosity of the material.

The design of multiple rotating components makes the melt surface much larger than traditional extruders. For example, the surface exchange rate of the melt generated by the MRS system is 25 times that of a co rotating twin-screw extruder.

Compared with other multi screw systems, MRS has the characteristics of compact structure, durability and sturdiness. The rotating satellite screw runs on independent bearings and is compatible with a barrel containing multiple single screws.
