1. MRS extruder and VACUUM water ring pump vacuum system

MRS extruders are generally single screw extruders with special degassing sections. The polymer melt is fed into a large single screw drum. The drum contains 8 or 10 (depending on the model size) small extruder barrels, parallel to the main screw shaft. In the small barrel is the "satellite" screw, which is driven by the ring gear in the main barrel. When the "satellite" screw rotates around the screw axis, it is in the opposite direction to the main screw. This asymmetric operation design can increase the surface exchange of polymer melt. Meanwhile, avoid the meshing issues in traditional multi axis or multi screw designs.

Due to its extremely high surface area exchange rate, the MRS extruder can provide excellent transfer in most cases, with a vacuum of only 30 mbar. This allows for the use of simpler and more robust water ring pumps, reducing daily maintenance at least. Under normal circumstances, the MRS extruder operates with a 25mbar low maintenance liquid ring vacuum system in standard applications, through enhanced surface area exchange combined with deeper vacuum (such as 0.5-2mbar).

2. RSFgenius fully automatic melt filter

In terms of product quality, cost-effectiveness, ease of operation, and maintenance, RSFgenius fully automatic melt filters represent the high standards of all filtration systems on the market today.

The RSFgenius series products consist of three main parts - an inlet block, an outlet block, and a rotating filter disc. Sealing relies on metal to metal sealing, with very narrow gaps and a very hard and flat surface. Ensure that all components in contact with the melt do not come into contact with the environment (such as oxygen).

3. VIS online viscometer

The working principle is that a small portion of the polymer melt is transferred from the main melt channel and pumped into a precision manufactured slotted capillary tube using a high-precision gear pump. The melt temperature and melt pressure were measured at two locations. Based on internal calculations, the viscometer monitors the values of representative shear rates and corresponding viscosities. Different shear rates can be set and the true values of viscosity and shear rate can be obtained through corresponding corrections.

The product design of VIS online viscometer is very compact. Can be installed between two flange connectors. We can design melt channels of 0.5-2mm according to customer requirements. This product unit includes a pump driver, a pump, a pressure sensor, a temperature sensor, and control and evaluation electronics. The setting, evaluation, and display of process parameters can be achieved through a user-friendly touch screen or integrated into existing control systems.

Customer Case 1:

A PET sheet manufacturer located in Eastern Europe processes PET bottle sheets into thermoformed sheets. This PET sheet extrusion production line is used for thermal forming processing of PET sheets. The sheet is rolled onto a roll. The sheet is subsequently manufactured into a series of different thermoformed containers for food packaging. Both three-layer ABA and single-layer thin plates can be produced through this production line. This product is suitable for food contact (FDA and EFSA certification), and PET bottle flakes can be used for any layer.

The MRS part of the extruder removes harmful volatiles from the melt through a vacuum system, while the rotating melt filtration system can more or less remove solid pollutants from the polymer melt. The melt in the processing of the RSFgenius filter in the fully automatic rotary melt filtration system is commonly filtered with a fineness of 40 to 75 μ m under constant conditions according to the quality requirements of the sheet. The viscosity value of PET material is monitored and recorded in real time by a Knoss online viscometer. Implement long-term monitoring of this important parameter.

A customer from the United States has customized an MRS 200 extruder for the production of PET sheets in rolls that are thermoformed into containers for food packaging. The customer uses recycled bottle flakes with different properties and industrial recycled abrasives as raw materials.

Melt filtration determines the optical quality of the sheet, ensuring that the final product produced by the extruder has high quality. The production line adopts a fully automatic and self-cleaning rotating melt filtration system RSFgenius 200, which can effectively filter contaminated materials, making the sheet have excellent clarity and free of impurities. The operator uses data to adjust the extruder and compensate for changes in the input raw materials.
