Overview
The sand drop abrasion tester and sand impact abrasion tester are used to test the abrasion resistance of organic coatings under standard conditions. The wear resistance of the coating on the test plate is expressed by the wear amount per unit film thickness. The testing method of this instrument complies with the American Industrial Standards ASTM D968-83 and JG/T 133-2000.
Product Details

The sand impact abrasion tester is used to test the wear resistance of organic coatings under standard conditions. The wear resistance of the coating on the test plate is expressed by the wear amount per unit film thickness. The testing method of this instrument complies with the American Industrial Standards ASTM D968-83 and JG/T 133-2000.

This method tests the wear resistance of coatings by dropping abrasives through a conduit from a specified height onto a pre coated test panel until the floor material of the test panel is visible. The wear resistance of the coating on the test panel is represented by the amount of wear per unit film thickness.

2、 Preparation for the experiment

Prepare the test panel according to the standard requirements and place it for 24 hours at (23 ± 2) degrees Celsius and (50 ± 5)% relative humidity.

3、 Calibration instrument

1. Pour a certain amount of sand into the funnel, check the sand flow falling from the lower end of the conduit, and calibrate the device with the bottom adjustment screw until the center of the sand bundle falls exactly at the center of the sand flow when viewed from two mutually perpendicular directions (90 °).

2. Use the height adjustment nut to adjust the distance between the conduit and the painted surface. According to ASTM standards, when measured vertically, its closest point is 1 inch (25 mm). Users need to adjust the thickness according to their own sample, and the machine is pre adjusted to 25 mm when leaving the factory.

3. Pour in a certain volume of sand (preferably 2000 ± 10 ml) and measure the outflow time. The outflow velocity should be 2 L within 21-23.5 seconds. This velocity is derived from ASTM standards. When using standard sand for testing, we measured a speed of over 7 liters per minute.

4. Attention: After the sand removal is completed, the machine should be tilted slightly to pour out the excess sand from the small square at the bottom of the funnel, and then the sand removal switch should be reinserted to avoid the switch being unable to be inserted.
