Thermal balance

The Q600 adopts a highly reliable horizontal dual arm double balance structure, which can simultaneously complete DSC and TGA measurements. The weight signal given is the difference between the weight signals of the sample arm and the reference arm. In fact, both will automatically deduct the thermal expansion and buoyancy effects of the balance arm. Therefore, compared to the design of a single arm beam, its result drift is smaller, and the accuracy and precision of weight testing are also higher. Users can benefit from the high sensitivity, accuracy, and precision of the instrument when testing small weight changes (0.1 μ g). Meanwhile, the uniqueness of the instrument lies in its ability to independently perform TGA measurements on two samples simultaneously.

Purging gas system

The Q600 adopts a blowing air path design with proven performance level through long-term practice. The Q600 is equipped with a digital mass flow controller and a gas automatic switch, which controls the horizontal flow of the blowing gas through the heating furnace body, passes through the sample and reference plate, and then flows out of the furnace chamber. Reactive gases can enter through the independent Inconel600 gas tube, which can protect the balance components and effectively blow the sample. Export can be easily combined with mass spectrometers or infrared analyzers. This design ensures better baseline stability, smaller buoyancy effects, prevents gas backflow, and effectively carries decomposed substances out of the sample area.

High resolution SDT

If the standard method (maintaining a linear heating rate throughout the experiment) cannot separate adjacent weight loss phenomena, Q600 also provides an automatic step constant temperature (SWI) method, a classic technique for increasing TGA resolution. This method involves heating the sample at a constant heating rate until the weight loss rate or total weight loss exceeds the limit SHI set by the operator, and the instrument remains at that temperature until the weight loss process is complete. Every time the weight loss process occurs, this heating and constant temperature step is repeated to obtain the weight loss resolution.
