In plastic granulation production, plasticizing effect is a key indicator that determines the quality of particles. There is often a saying in the industry that 'plasticization relies on the main unit, not the auxiliary unit'. This viewpoint is basically correct in principle, but it needs to be viewed more comprehensively in practical production.
  1、 The core of plasticization lies in the host
Plasticization refers to the process of uniformly melting plastic under heating and shearing, which is entirely accomplished by the screw system of the host. The host uses a reasonable combination of screws, stable speed, and precise temperature control toraw materialPlasticize into a uniform melt.
To determine whether the plasticization of the host is qualified, the following points can be referred to:
✅ Is the host current stable;
✅ Whether there is any material leakage or blasting phenomenon at the exhaust port;
✅ Is the head pressure stable;
✅ Whether the finished particles have pores or unmelted material.
If the host itself cannot be adjusted properly, the plasticizing effect will inevitably be unsatisfactory. The auxiliary unit does not have plasticizing function and cannot compensate for the defects of the main unit.
  2、 The indirect impact of auxiliary machines on the quality of finished products
Although the auxiliary machine does not participate in plasticization, its operating state can affect the apparent effect of particles after extrusion of the melt, mainly reflected in three aspects:
  1. Speed matching
The speed of the auxiliary engine must be coordinated with the discharge volume of the main engine. Low rotational speed can cause the melt to accumulate and remain in front of the die, with a prolonged residence time, and the particle surface is prone to yellowing or carbonization; If the speed is too high, the pushing will be too fast, and the melt will not be fully compacted, which may result in micro pores inside the particles.
  2. Temperature connection
The auxiliary heating zone mainly serves as insulation to ensure that the melt maintains appropriate fluidity before entering the mold head. If the temperature is set too low, the surface of the strip will become rough, the glossiness of the particles will decrease, and it is easy to be mistaken for poor plasticization.
  3. Smoothness of the filtration system
auxiliary enginescreen changerIf the filter plate becomes clogged and the resistance increases when the melt passes through, it will directly affect the discharge speed of the extruded strip, resulting in uneven, broken or uneven strip thickness, irregular particle appearance after cutting, and affecting the product appearance.
In summary, the main unit is the decisive factor in plasticizing quality, and the auxiliary unit cannot replace the main unit to complete plasticizing. However, the speed, temperature, and filtration status of the auxiliary unit will directly affect the appearance, density, and glossiness of the final particles.
The correct approach in production is to first stabilize the host and lay a solid foundation; Further coordinate with the auxiliary machine to ensure that the melt can be extruded into shape intact. Both parties play their respective roles and coordinate adjustments to ensure the stable operation and product quality of the entire granulation line.
