Asia Pacific Director of Covestro Special Film Business Unit
  Comprehensive upgrade of equipment
  Significant improvement in technical capabilities
The technical service center has been fully upgradedFilm Embedded Injection Molding (FIM)Technical capability, this technology can manufacture plastic parts with decorative or functional surfaces in one step, creating intelligent car interior and exterior surfaces with built-in functions such as lighting, heating, and touch. The newly introduced large-scale screen printing equipment is capable of processing polycarbonate films that have almost doubled in size compared to before, enabling the team to produceAutomobile luminous front grillewaitPrototype of large components, implementationsensorInnovative design that integrates display functionality onto the exterior surface.
The upgraded facility has integrated FIM support capabilities from resin and film selection, screen printing, molding, finishing to final molding. A flexible tool system canEffectively reduce the cost of prototype productionShorten the development cycle. The design feasibility simulation capability can be used for early validation of concepts before full production.
  Targeting Robot Applications
  Flexible Printing Electronic Technology
This expansion also includes additional equipmentFlexible Printed Electronics (FPE)Specialized equipment. FPE technology utilizes thermoplastic polyurethane(TPU)Printing electronic circuits on flexible substrates such as thin films can be applied in fields such as wearable devices and robots. Among them, a dedicated wire mesh designed specifically for conductive inkprinting pressEnsure precise control of the circuit printing process, and the new thermoforming equipment enables the team to test the performance of circuits after forming into complex three-dimensional shapes.
Maintaining stable circuit performance during the molding process remains a key challenge for flexible electronic technology. This technology can be applied toRobot dexterous handTactile sensors andHumanoid robot electronic skinWaiting for emerging applications. The technical service center can also provide customers with professional consulting services in processing conditions and circuit design.
The Special Thin Film Technology Service Center isCovestro Asia Pacific Innovation CenterThe center is an important component of Covestro, gathering the research and development capabilities of multiple business units and innovation functional departments of the group, with advanced technology and digital infrastructure.
The expansion of the Special Thin Film Technology Service Center fully demonstrates our firm commitment to deeply cultivating world-class innovation capabilities in the Asia Pacific region and meeting customer needs. This will also further promote close collaboration among various business units and functional departments within the innovation center
