From scheme to practical application
Assist in the large-scale production of plant-based tableware
Faced with the environmental challenges brought by disposable plastic products, American startup PlantSwitch is committed to developing environmentally friendly compostable tableware, replacing petroleum based plastics with plant-based materials. In 2022, PlantSwitch and Husky will collaborate to explore the application of bio resins in injection molding.
During the project advancement process, Husky assisted PlantSwitch in analyzing the processing performance of plant-based resins through material testing, experimental validation, and scheme evaluation, and ultimately determined to use UltraMelt equipment ™ HyELECTIC Hot Runner ® Packaging injection molding system.
This system has helped PlantSwitch achieve large-scale manufacturing of plant-based tableware, successfully obtaining orders from large chain supermarkets in the United States, making it an important supplier in the field of plant-based compostable tableware. It will soon further explore sustainable packaging applications such as coffee capsules.
