What are the common problems of single axis vacuum vulcanizing machine
Date: 2025-08-13Read: 4
Single axis vacuum vulcanizing machine is a key equipment for vulcanizing materials such as rubber and silicone, which achieves material solidification by eliminating bubbles through vacuum pumping and heating and pressure. However, during use, various problems may arise due to improper design, operation, or maintenance. The following are common problems and analysis:

1、 Vacuum system issues

1. Insufficient vacuum degree or inability to evacuate

  • reason
    • vacuum pump failureThe wear of the pump body and aging of the sealing components lead to a decrease in pumping efficiency.
    • Pipeline leakageVacuum pipelines, valves, or mold interfaces are not tightly sealed, causing air infiltration.
    • Vacuum gauge damagedAbnormal instrument display, misjudging vacuum degree.
    • Mold design defectsThe exhaust groove of the mold is blocked or the structure is unreasonable, which hinders the discharge of gas.
  • influenceResidual bubbles inside vulcanized products can cause uneven density, reduced strength, or surface defects.
  • Solution
    • Regularly check the oil level and quality of the vacuum pump, and replace aging seals.
    • Use soapy water to detect pipeline leaks, tighten joints or replace sealing rings.
    • Calibrate or replace the vacuum gauge to ensure accurate readings.
    • Optimize the design of the mold exhaust groove and regularly clean the residual rubber material inside the mold.

2. Overheating or loud noise of vacuum pump

  • reason
    • Long term continuous operationThe vacuum pump is overloaded and has poor heat dissipation.
    • Insufficient lubricationThe oil level in the pump is too low or the oil quality has deteriorated, resulting in increased friction.
    • Air intake blockageDust or foreign objects accumulate on the filter screen and enter the pump body.
  • influenceShorten the lifespan of the vacuum pump and even cause equipment shutdown.
  • Solution
    • Control the running time of the vacuum pump to avoid prolonged idling.
    • Regularly replenish or replace the vacuum pump oil to ensure lubrication effectiveness.
    • Clean the air intake filter to prevent foreign objects from entering.

2、 Heating system issues

1. Uneven temperature or overheating

  • reason
    • Heating plate agingLocalized damage to the heating element leads to uneven heat distribution.
    • Thermocouple failureTemperature sensor position offset or damage, feedback signal distortion.
    • Temperature controller parameter errorThe PID control parameter settings are unreasonable and the temperature fluctuates greatly.
    • Cooling system failureBlockage of water or air cooling devices leads to a decrease in heat dissipation efficiency.
  • influenceLocalized sulfur deficiency or excess in vulcanized products, resulting in inconsistent performance.
  • Solution
    • Regularly check the surface temperature of the heating plate and use an infrared thermometer to assist in calibration.
    • Re calibrate the thermocouple position or replace the damaged sensor.
    • Adjust the PID parameters of the temperature controller and optimize the temperature control curve.
    • Clean the scale or foreign objects in the cooling system to ensure unobstructed heat dissipation channels.

2. Slow heating speed

  • reason
    • Insufficient power supply voltageIf the input voltage is lower than the rated value, the heating power will decrease.
    • Heating element foulingAdhesive or impurities adhere to the surface of the heating plate, hindering heat transfer.
    • Damage to insulation layerThe insulation material of the equipment casing falls off, causing rapid heat dissipation.
  • influenceExtend production cycle and reduce efficiency.
  • Solution
    • Check if the power supply voltage is stable and install a voltage regulator if necessary.
    • Regularly clean the surface adhesive of the heating plate to maintain cleanliness.
    • Repair or replace damaged insulation layers to reduce heat loss.

3、 Hydraulic system issues

1. Unstable pressure or inability to maintain pressure

  • reason
    • Hydraulic oil contaminationAir, moisture, or impurities mixed into the oil can cause system leakage.
    • Seal agingThe sealing ring of the hydraulic cylinder piston is worn and there is severe internal leakage.
    • Overflow valve malfunctionValve core jamming or spring failure, pressure regulation failure.
    • Oil pump wear and tearThe clearance between the pump body increases, resulting in insufficient output flow.
  • influenceThe thickness of the vulcanized product is uneven or the surface is concave, and the quality is unqualified.
  • Solution
    • Regularly replace hydraulic oil and filter impurities in the oil.
    • Replace aging seals and check the wear of the inner wall of the hydraulic cylinder.
    • Clean or replace the overflow valve and adjust the pressure setting.
    • Repair or replace the oil pump to ensure stable output flow.

2. Slow or stuck hydraulic cylinder action

  • reason
    • Wear of guide sleeveThe clearance between the hydraulic cylinder guide sleeve is too large, and the piston is offset.
    • The viscosity of the oil is too highPoor oil fluidity and increased resistance in low-temperature environments.
    • Mechanical blockageThe piston rod is bent or the connecting parts are loose, causing obstruction of movement.
  • influenceExtend the vulcanization cycle and even damage the equipment.
  • Solution
    • Replace the worn guide sleeve and adjust the clearance between the piston and cylinder.
    • Choose hydraulic oil with appropriate viscosity based on the ambient temperature.
    • Check the straightness of the piston rod and tighten all connecting components.

4、 Mold and product issues

1. Difficulty in sticking or demolding molds

  • reason
    • Mold temperature is too highAfter vulcanization, the rubber material adheres to the surface of the mold.
    • Insufficient release agentNot applied or unevenly applied, resulting in insufficient demolding force.
    • The surface of the mold is roughAfter long-term use, the mold wears down and the surface smoothness decreases.
  • influenceIncrease demolding time and even damage the product or mold.
  • Solution
    • Control the mold temperature within a reasonable range (usually 5-10 ℃ lower than the vulcanization temperature).
    • Use specialized release agent and ensure even application.
    • Regularly polish the surface of the mold to restore its smoothness.

2. Product size deviation or deformation

  • reason
    • The mold is not tightly closedInsufficient hydraulic system pressure or worn mold positioning pin.
    • Insufficient vulcanization timeThe rubber material is not vulcanized and continues to deform after being molded.
    • Insufficient coolingAfter the product is molded, the temperature is too high and it deforms under the action of gravity.
  • influenceThe product size exceeds the tolerance and cannot meet the assembly requirements.
  • Solution
    • Check the closing pressure of the mold and replace the worn locating pin.
    • Extend the vulcanization time or increase the vulcanization temperature to ensure that the rubber material is fully vulcanized.
    • Increase the cooling time or use a forced cooling device to reduce the mold temperature.

5、 Electrical and control system issues

  • reason
    • power failureCircuit breaker tripping, contactor contact erosion, or line short circuit.
    • Emergency stop button triggeredOperator accidentally touches or device protection mechanism is activated.
