What are the precautions for using a low-speed crusher
Date: 2025-10-23Read: 12
Low speed crushers are commonly used for processing materials such as metals, plastics, wood, and electronic waste due to their low rotational speed and relatively simple structure. They have the characteristics of low energy consumption, low noise, and wide applicability. However, the following precautions should still be taken during its use to ensure safe and efficient operation and extend the lifespan of the equipment:

1、 Preparation before operation

  1. Material compatibility check
    • Prohibited from using beyond the scopeConfirm whether the material type, size, and hardness meet the equipment requirements. For example, superhard materials (such as high-strength alloys) may damage cutting tools or transmission components, and large pieces of material need to be pre cut to the specified size.
    • Clean up foreign objectsCheck if there are any hard objects such as metal or stones mixed in the material to avoid jamming or breaking the cutting tools.
    • Moisture content controlWet materials may cause adhesion or blockage, and it is necessary to dry them in advance or choose an anti sticking crusher.
  2. Equipment status check
    • Visual inspectionConfirm that the shell is not damaged or cracked, and that the fasteners (such as bolts and nuts) are not loose.
    • Lubrication checkCheck whether the oil level in lubrication parts such as bearings and gearboxes is normal and whether the oil quality is clean.
    • Tool inspectionConfirm the degree of tool wear. If the cutting edge becomes dull or cracks appear, it should be replaced in a timely manner to avoid a decrease in crushing efficiency or vibration.
  3. Confirmation of safety protection devices
    • protective shieldEnsure that the protective covers of the feed inlet and transmission components are securely installed to prevent personnel from coming into contact with rotating parts.
    • Emergency stop buttonTest whether the emergency stop device is sensitive and ensure that it can stop immediately in emergency situations.
    • grounding protectionCheck if the grounding wire of the equipment is reliably connected to prevent electric leakage and injury.

2、 Operation process specification

  1. Start and Run
    • No load startFirst, idle for 1-2 minutes to confirm that the equipment has no abnormal noise or vibration before feeding.
    • Uniform feedingAvoid injecting excessive materials at once to prevent overloading and jamming of the machine. Suggest using a continuous and slow feeding method.
    • Monitor operational parametersObserve whether the current and speed are stable. If the current suddenly increases or the speed decreases, it may be stuck or overloaded, and the machine should be stopped immediately for inspection.
  2. Feed control
    • Size restrictionThe material size shall not exceed the maximum allowable value of the feeding port, and large pieces of material shall be crushed or cut in advance.
    • 禁止手部伸入It is strictly prohibited to insert hands or other tools into the feeding port during feeding, and a pushing rod can be used as an auxiliary.
    • Anti entanglement measuresWhen handling long materials such as wood and plastic pipes, it is necessary to ensure that the feeding direction is consistent with the rotation direction of the cutting tool to avoid entanglement.
  3. Environment and Safety
    • well-ventilatedDust may be generated during the crushing process, and it is necessary to install dust removal devices or maintain ventilation in a closed space to avoid the risk of dust explosion.
    • fire prevention measuresWhen handling flammable materials such as plastic and paper, stay away from sources of fire and equip with firefighting equipment.
    • personal protectionOperators are required to wear dust masks, earplugs, protective gloves, and safety shoes.

3、 Maintenance and upkeep

  1. Daily cleaning
    • Clean up residuesClean the accumulated material in the crushing chamber after daily shutdown to prevent material hardening or corrosion of the equipment.
    • Dust removal treatmentRegularly clean the dust on the surface of the equipment and the heat dissipation port to maintain good heat dissipation.
  2. regular inspection
    • tool wearCheck the cutting edge of the tool every week, and replace or repair it if the wear exceeds 1/3.
    • bearing conditionCheck the bearing temperature and noise every month, and replace it promptly if it heats up or makes abnormal noises.
    • Drive belt tensionAdjust the tightness of the belt to avoid slipping or excessive wear.
  3. Lubrication management
    • Change oil on timeRegularly replace the lubricating oil or grease of the gearbox and bearings according to the equipment manual.
    • Oil selectionUse recommended lubricants and avoid mixing oils of different viscosities or brands.
  4. Replacement of vulnerable parts
    • Tool changeWhen replacing tools, align the mounting holes to ensure dynamic balance and avoid increased vibration.
    • Screen maintenanceIf the equipment has a screening function, it is necessary to regularly clean or replace the screen mesh to prevent blockage and affect the particle size of the discharge.

4、 Fault handling and emergency response

  1. Common faults and their solutions
    • cardImmediately stop the machine, cut off the power and manually clean the material inside the crushing chamber. It is forbidden to remove the material while the power is on.
    • Overload tripCheck the feeding amount and material hardness, adjust and restart.
    • Abnormal noiseStop the machine and check if the cutting tools, bearings, or transmission components are loose or damaged.
  2. Emergency shutdown
    • In case of emergency (such as equipment smoking, odor, severe vibration), immediately press the emergency stop button and cut off the power.
    • After shutdown, maintain the site and wait for professional personnel to investigate the cause before restarting.
