1、 Introduction to METRIX Corporation in the United States:

Metrix was founded by Peter J. Sundt in 1965, and its origins can be traced back to seismic measurement technology. 2、 The working principle of METRIX vibration sensor is based on two basic principles:

The relationship between particle force and acceleration, and the relationship between object vibration and frequency. ‌

1. The relationship between force and acceleration on a particle: This principle is based on Newton's second law, which states that the resultant force on a particle is equal to its mass multiplied by its acceleration. By measuring the force or displacement signal acting on the probe, the vibration acceleration of the measured object can be indirectly obtained. This measurement method utilizes the transducer element in the vibration sensor to convert mechanical vibration into electrical signals, which are easy to transmit, transform, process, and store. ‌

2. The relationship between object vibration and frequency: This principle is based on the resonant frequency formula, and the vibration frequency of an object is related to its mass and elastic coefficient. By measuring the vibration frequency of the probe, the mass and elastic coefficient of the measured object can be indirectly obtained. This measurement method utilizes a single free oscillation system consisting of springs, dampers, and inertial mass blocks. The inertia of the mass blocks is used to establish coordinates in inertial space and determine the vibration acceleration relative to the earth or inertial space.

3、 Features of Metrix vibration probe:

Generally speaking, there are only two types of vibration sensors in terms of mechanical receiving principles: relative and inertial. However, in terms of electromechanical transformation, due to different transformation methods and properties, there are many types and their application ranges are extremely wide.

The sensors used in modern vibration measurement are no longer independent mechanical measuring devices in traditional concepts. They are only a part of the entire measurement system and closely related to the subsequent electronic circuits.

Due to the different principles of electromechanical transformation inside the sensor, the output power also varies. Some transform changes in mechanical quantities into changes in electromotive force and charge, while others transform changes in mechanical vibration quantities into changes in electrical parameters such as resistance and inductance. Generally speaking, these amounts of electricity cannot be directly accepted by subsequent display, recording, and analysis instruments. Therefore, sensors based on different principles of electromechanical transformation must be equipped with specialized measurement circuits. The function of the measurement circuit is to convert the output power of the sensor into a general voltage signal that can be accepted by the subsequent display and analysis instrument. Therefore, vibration sensors can be classified according to their functions in the following ways:

According to the principle of mechanical reception, it can be divided into relative and inertial types;

According to the principle of electromechanical transformation, it can be divided into electric, piezoelectric, eddy current, inductive, capacitive, resistive, and photoelectric types;

According to the measured mechanical quantities: displacement sensor, speed sensor, acceleration sensor, force sensor, strain sensor, torsional vibration sensor, torque sensor.
