Water is the source of life, essential for production, and the foundation of ecology. With the rapid growth of the world population and economic and social development, water resource issues are becoming increasingly prominent. In response to the global challenge of water security, China adheres to the new development concept of innovation, coordination, green, openness, and sharing, and insists on the water management concept of "water conservation priority, spatial balance, systematic governance, and dual pronged efforts". It coordinates water disaster prevention and control, water resource conservation, aquatic state protection and restoration, and water environment governance, and ensures water use for nearly 20% of the world's population, accounting for 6% of the world's freshwater resources.
