As a key equipment in the plastic processing industry, the gantry granulator requires systematic maintenance from five aspects: daily cleaning, component inspection, lubrication maintenance, safe operation, and fault prevention. Specific precautions are as follows:1、 Daily cleaning and anti blocking maintenance

Cleaning of the cutting chamber

Cleaning up after shiftAfter each shift, use specialized tools to clean the remaining plastic particles, scale, and impurities in the cutting chamber to prevent clogging of the cutterhead or cooling water channel.

Weekly disassembly and cleaningDisassemble the cutting chamber weekly, use a high-pressure water gun or specialized cleaning agent to remove stubborn stains from the inner walls and gaps of the cutter head, air dry and reassemble.

Anti caking treatmentTimely remove clumps from the strip material to prevent large chunks from entering the granulator; When starting to pull the strip, first introduce a small amount and remove the head clumps. When producing high impact resistant products, do not pull more than 5 strips, and then introduce a single adhesive strip.

Cooling system maintenance

Flow and temperature controlConfirm that the cooling water flow rate is ≥ 5L/min and the water temperature is controlled at 20-40 ℃ to avoid plastic particle adhesion caused by excessively high water temperature.

Monthly dredging of waterwaysEvery month, use compressed air to blow back the cooling water pipeline, remove scale and impurities, and prevent blockages from affecting the cooling effect.

Water quality managementUse deionized water or softened water as the cooling medium, with a hardness of ≤ 50ppm and a pH value of 6.5-7.5, to prevent scale formation.
2、 Key component inspection and replacement

Tool inspection

Shift inspectionEvery 8-12 hours, visually inspect the cutting edge for wear, chipping, or carbon buildup. If the edge becomes dull, promptly grind or replace it.

Grinding standardsUse a dedicated sharpening machine to grind the blade edge, maintaining an angle of 30 °± 2 °. After grinding, perform dynamic balance correction (deviation ≤ 0.5g).

Change conditionsWhen the wear of the cutting blade exceeds one-third of the original thickness, it is necessary to replace the entire blade with a new one. It is recommended to prepare 3-5 sets of cutting blades for rotation.

Template maintenance

Monthly inspectionCheck the template discharge hole for blockage or deformation every month, clean the residual plastic in the hole with a copper wire brush, and return it to the factory for repair or replacement if it is severely worn.

Install sealApply high-temperature silicone grease during template installation to ensure a tight fit with the sealing surface of the cutting chamber and prevent water leakage.

Inspection of transmission components

Belt/ChainCheck the tension of the belt/chain every shift to ensure there is no looseness or abnormal wear; Check the elongation rate every 3 months. If it exceeds 3% of the original length, it needs to be replaced. The synchronous belt needs to be replaced as a set to maintain consistent tension.

spindle bearingAdd an appropriate amount of lithium based grease (such as NLGI No.2) to the bearing seat before daily work to avoid overheating caused by oil shortage.

gearboxCheck the oil level of the gearbox every shift, replenish ISO VG220 industrial gear oil when it is below the oil mark, and replace it with new oil after 500 hours of use.
3、 Lubrication and Electrical System Maintenance

Lubrication point managementAccording to the lubrication requirements of the equipment, regularly add or replace lubricating oil to lubrication points such as spindle bearings and gearboxes to ensure good lubrication.

Pump maintenanceCheck the impeller of the water pump for wear every month, clean the inlet filter, and ensure stable flow of the water pump.

Electrical system inspection

terminal blockCheck if the motor wiring terminals are loose and measure the insulation resistance with a megohmmeter (should be ≥ 1M Ω).

Control cabinet cleaningClean the dust inside the control cabinet and check if the cooling fans of electrical components such as frequency converters and PLCs are running properly.

lightning protectionIn areas with frequent thunderstorms, install lightning arresters or signal protectors to prevent lightning strikes from damaging electronic components.
4、 Safe operation and emergency response

Pre operation inspection

Adjustment of cutting blade clearanceBefore each production shift, adjust the gap between the cutting blade and the template with a feeler gauge to 0.05-0.1mm. If the gap is too large, it will cause more burrs on the particles, and if it is too small, it may cause the cutting blade to break.

Cutting blade temperature controlMaintain the temperature of the cutting blade at 150-180 ℃ (adjusted according to the type of plastic) through a heating rod. If the temperature is too low, it will cause uneven cutting of particles, and if it is too high, it will easily stick to the blade.

Shutdown operation

Sequential shutdownBefore shutting down, reduce the spindle speed to zero, then close the cooling water valve, and finally cut off the power supply.

Warning signHang a "Do Not Close" warning sign during maintenance and have a dedicated person supervise.

emergency response

protective equipmentOperators are required to wear protective goggles, anti cutting gloves, and anti slip shoes to prevent injury from cutting blade fragments or high-temperature plastic splashes.

First aid preparationEquip with fire extinguishers and first aid kits, and regularly organize employees to practice emergency response procedures for situations such as cutting machine jamming and electric leakage.
5、 Maintenance under special working conditions

Corrosive material handling
- After each use, the cutting chamber and cutting tools should be cleaned to prevent residual corrosive media from causing component damage.

High temperature fluid treatment
- When measuring high-temperature fluids (such as steam), install a cooling device in front of the transmitter to prevent sensor overheating and damage; Install insulation layer on the transmitter housing to prevent personnel from touching and getting burned.

Low temperature fluid treatment
- When measuring low-temperature fluids (such as liquid nitrogen), wrap insulation materials outside the pipeline to prevent freezing and sensor rupture; Install electric heat tracing belts in extremely cold areas to ensure that the fluid temperature is within the working range of the transmitter.
