In food preservation technology, oxygen is often removed by using deoxidizers to inhibit the growth and reproduction of aerobic microorganisms, while preventing the oxidation and deterioration of easily oxidizable components such as oils and fats. Deoxidizer, also known as deoxidizer, deoxidizer or oxygen absorber, is a type of chemical mixture that easily reacts with free oxygen (or dissolved oxygen). Since Japan applied deoxidizer technology to the field of food preservation in 1977, after decades of development, deoxidizers have been widely used in various occasions such as Chinese and Western style pastries, poultry and meat products, nut stir fried foods, medical and health care, precision instruments, books and cultural relics.

Deoxidizers are usually packaged in bags made of breathable materials, and their packaging film needs to have both oxygen permeability and barrier properties - ensuring smooth passage of oxygen while preventing the migration of deoxidizer components into food. If the packaging film has insufficient barrier properties against oil and water, free water or oil in the food may form ion channels, causing heavy metals in the deoxidizer filler to migrate to the food, posing a food safety hazard. Therefore, as a special type of food additive, the migration and pollution of heavy metals caused by the packaging film of deoxidizers has become an important issue of concern in the field of food safety.

Basic appearance and sensory inspection

The appearance requirements should comply with the requirements in Table 1.

Odor: Close range olfactory judgment to ensure no abnormal odor and prevent the migration and contamination of food by membrane odors.

Printing quality reliability testing

The printing of packaging film is not only for aesthetics, but also a carrier of brand information, and its firmness must be ensured. For gravure printing, the quality of plastic film gravure printing should comply with the provisions of GB/T7707, and the quality of paper-based gravure printing should comply with the provisions of QB/T3007.

Test method: The glass tape paper that meets the standard regulations and the processed sample ink printing surface are bonded together with standard load, rolling speed, and rolling times. After a certain period of time, they are peeled off with a certain pressure and peeling speed. The condition of the sample ink layer being peeled off is observed and measured to determine and analyze the bonding strength of the printing ink layer.

The use of paper-based gravure printing quality and flexographic printing qualityGX-C2 Scratch Resistance Tester(See Figure 3) Simulate and evaluate the scratch resistance of the printing surface. Under a certain pressure, the sample is ordered to rub against the paper, and the degree of ink detachment on the sample after several friction cycles is checked to determine the scratch resistance of the sample.

Physical and mechanical properties

The physical and mechanical properties of the sample should comply with the provisions of Table 2.

Heat sealing strength (N/15 mm):Simulate the bag making process using the GBH-2 electronic tensile testing machine (see Figure 4) and GBB-A heat sealer (see Figure 5) to test the firmness of the seal and avoid bag breakage, in accordance with QB/T 2358.

Peel force (N/15 mm):According to the provisions of GB/T 8808, use the GBH-2 electronic tensile testing machine for testing.

Tensile strength and right angle tearing force:Using the GBH-2 electronic tensile testing machine (see Figure 4), evaluate the longitudinal/transverse tensile strength and tear resistance of the film material separately to ensure that it has sufficient "toughness". According to the provisions of GB/T 1040.3 and QB/T 1130.

GBH-2 Electronic Tensile Testing MachineWith rich functional configurations, the testing module covers basic experiments (stretching, peeling, puncture, shearing, bending, tearing, etc.), and different sample fixtures can be customized according to different testing scenarios. The measuring range is 0-500 N, with a precision of 0.5 level, supporting 0-500 mm/min (continuously variable speed), which can meet the mechanical performance testing requirements of food deoxidizer packaging film.

Dynamic friction coefficient:useGM-1 friction coefficient tester(See Figure 6) The smoothness performance of the test sample is crucial as it directly affects the running performance of the packaging film on high-speed automatic filling equipment. If the coefficient is too high, it may cause lagging, while if it is too low, it may cause slipping and inaccurate positioning.

Anti pendulum impact energy:useGBG-L2 Thin Film Impact Tester(See Figure 7), evaluate the puncture resistance of the membrane material under sharp impact. According to the provisions of GB/T 8809, select B-type punch for testing.

Core functional testing

Deoxidizer packaging film has been continuously optimized and improved in technology, and its dustproof, waterproof, and oil resistant properties are commonly referred to as the "three proof" performance in the industry.

Dustproof performance:Observe the 5cm × 5cm sample under a microscope, with no direct light penetration, and determine it as negative to ensure that the fine deoxidizer powder does not leak.

Waterproof/oil resistant performance:useGBB-A heat sealerMake bags and fill them with standard weight reduced iron powder. Accurately weigh the mass change after soaking in isopropanol aqueous solution (waterproof) or 60 ℃ olive oil (oil proof) using an FA2004 electronic analytical balance. Weight gain must be ≤ 75mg (judged as "negative") to ensure that liquid pollutants cannot enter.

Breathability resistance:The overall breathability of packaging film for food deoxidizers directly affects the oxygen absorption rate of the deoxidizer. The better the breathability, the faster the oxygen absorption rate. Special use is requiredFood Deoxidizer Packaging Film N600T Breathability Tester(See Figure 8), measure the time required for a food deoxidizer packaging film to pass through 100 mL of air at an area of 6.42 cm2 and a constant pressure difference of 0.05 Mpa.
